Are there any home remedies for getting rid of flys attacking a dog’s ears?

We have a Husky that has flies that are attacking our dog’s ears. His fur and flesh are raw and missing. They’re getting bad and we need a home remedy to help get rid of them. They’re just getting him and not the other dog we have. (chihuahua)
We bought an over the counter medicine for him especially for that but it didn’t do anything. Sometimes home remedies work better than medication.

I don’t know of any. You might try just some sunscreen. There is a product called PetGuard that most vets sell for the purpose and I have heard good things about it

If its fleas try those electronic pest repellants. They are not that expensive; walmart and other stores have them. They are small and fit into any electrical outlet.

go to vet and get an ear mite medication. its designed to limit the dirt in the ear canal, which can cause a nasty odor if left unkempt. so if the animal has a slight odor
that’s cause for ear infections which in this event attracts gnats and biting fly. I’d get them looked at, the vet can explain further.
good luck

wash ears with mild soap and water then dry well, the put heavy amount of neosporin. the ears have to heal or the flies will keep at him. so dont worry about getting rid of the flies they will go away after you heal the dogs ears. k?very important to wash first to get rid of fly eggs and dirt then gobs of neosporin. every day for three or four days should do it. good luck.this is for the ear flap not in the ear. if the prob. is inside the ear he needs a vet.

we had a mastiff, and the flys would chew his ears up,and my dad would put grease on his ears.the same kind of grease that comes in a tube, and you put in a grease gun to grease your car.that worked

WHAT DO YOU MEAN FLIES OR FLEAS? IF FLIES IS WHAT YOU MEANT THEN GIVE YOUR DOG A BATH, SHAMPOOING HIM TWICE. IF ITS FLEAS TRY SOME SPOT ON LIKE FRONTLINE OR ADVANTIX.

Real Quick, Real Easy, Real Safe. Go to local feed store/tack store.. or online get SWAT. and just rub a dab on both ears or any affected area with flys, fly crap, or stuff like that. WORKS WONDERS!!!! if the temperatures where you live are either really humid or really hot, i would apply this once a day and check it again to make sure the dog doesnt need a 2nd dose!! GOOD LUCK!
